Sunderland AFC Opinion – A(nother) new low in our illustrious history

Matt Keeling was at Cheltenham on Tuesday night to witness managerless Sunderland's third defeat on the spin - here's what he thought

It’s incredible really that, Sunderland in the last week or so have lost 6-0 in the Third Division to Bolton Wanderers; and have since got worse. The defeats in recent days to Doncaster and Cheltenham are frankly, as bad as it gets.

Last night, 1,300 or so made the 6,900-mile trip to the south west, to watch an utter, utter debacle.

Nice free-kick from Alex Pritchard aside, the performance and application was an absolute disgrace.

Yeah, we had one or two chances but this was against a Cheltenham side we’d battered 5-0 at home and who hadn’t won since November.

Pathetic.

We deserve better. A lot better. I don’t go on about this side of things that much, but the fans of the football club deserve better than this. It is wholly unacceptable and it’s currently only going one way.

Managerless, rudderless and clueless, Sunderland Association Football Club is an absolute mess and it needs sorting out now. Right now.

We’ll end up outside the play-offs if we keep going. More new lows. More trips to towns we’ve never been to, more hapless defeats and more and more absolute fume directed at, well we don’t know who to even fume at really.

It needs fixing.

The joke isn’t funny anymore.
