LEE Cattermole picked up his fifth booking of the season and a suspension at Selhurst Park last week, opening the door for Liam Bridcutt to come into the side and stake a claim for the pivotal holding role in Gus Poyet’s team.
Against Everton yesterday, he did just that, putting in an excellent performance at the base of Sunderland’s midfield, which went a long way to earning his side a point.
Bridcutt has come in for some harsh criticism since arriving at the club, much of it seemingly based on the fact that he isn’t Lee Cattermole. He may be utilised in the same position, but his interpretation of it is massively different.
