We are truly blessed that this early into the new season we get a chance to give an opposition set of supporters such a lovely hair ruffle. Our time in League One was full of hair ruffling opportunities, telling the likes of Shrewsbury, Bradford, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers supporters that they “gave us a good game” and that “play like that for the rest of the season and you’ll be fine”.

Since our promotion, however, the amount of hair ruffles we can dish out will be quite limited considering we’re actually playing good teams. So what a pleasure it is to be facing our slain play-off semi-final opponents Sheffield Wednesday in an early League Cup round. We can reminisce about how Patrick Roberts broke their hearts and pretend that we’re disappointed that two “proper clubs” didn’t contest the final.

The clincher is even better since this game means absolutely nothing to either of us, as we focus on our Championship campaign and they concentrate on playing Cambridge United and “Forest Green Rovers”. So enjoy these moments and don’t forget to have your sincerest “I hope you lot go up this season” ready.

How Do I Get There?

If you’re driving take the A1(M), M1 and leave at junction 36 for the A61 following the signs for Hillsborough. There’s a load of street parking around the ground, so try and find some.

If you’re on the train then you can take the yellow line tram from Sheffield station to the Leppings Lane stop and then ground is a couple of minutes walk away.

What’s the Ground Like?

You were all there about three weeks ago, you know what it’s like. It looks like Hillsborough.

Yer thirsty?

Very much like Bristol, you can have your pick of excellent pubs in Sheffield city centre. Most notably, the Sheffield Tap next to the train station or The Rutland Arms on Brown Street. However, if you’re wanting something a little closer to Hillsborough you can try The Shakey on Bradfield Road or The Beekeeper on Middlewood Road for all your beery needs.
