WHAT fantastic news it is that Lee Cattermole has won the North East Football Writers’ Player of the Year award.
The announcement was greeted with predictable reactions, especially on Twitter. Sunderland fans puffed their chests out with pride and uploaded numerous pictures of our unofficial captain flying into tackles, or growling at teammates and opponents alike. Fans of both of our North-East associates greeted the news with general disbelief, and thus concluded that North-East football must be on its backside for such an ‘average’ player to triumph.
